The impact of English pronunciation on careers

A recent student, the owner of a large international language-teaching agency, admitted that he felt inhibited from using his wide English vocabulary in case he mispronounced words.

Let's consider the consequences of feeling the need to hold back when expressing ourselves verbally. We may play it safe, staying within the limited vocabulary we feel comfortable using, and not giving full expression or development to our ideas. We may be unable to engage fully in a discussion or argument, wanting to remain within the domain where we feel we can sound authoritative, while at the same time diminishing the range of our discursive skills.

Over the course of a career that could mean capability not developed, positions not achieved and even projects not realised to their full potential.

It's never too late to work on your spoken English skills with personalised training. Finding the confidence to express yourself freely will enable you to shine to your full potential in any environment.
